A bellydance class is an uplifting way to add
low-impact
exercise to a fitness routine for every age and body type.
Bellydance can help to gently increase your flexability and
range of motion while encouraging excellent muscle control -- in
addition to being a lot of fun!
Current and Upcoming Classes
- Bellydance Basics with
Kalirah and Rhiannon. Explore
the foundations of American Orientale style bellydance! Provides an
introduction
to basic movements and finger cymbals patterns, and
will touch on veil work and costuming. Class will learn simple
combinations and a short choreography. This is an 8-week
session
on Mondays 7pm - 8:30pm, from April 15 - June 3. Cost is $90.
Registration
information (pdf).
Drop-ins
with some prior bellydance instruction welcome, $15/class (if space
is available).
If you and some friends are
interested in beginning classes, please contact
us to set
up a series of private group lessons.
Unless
otherwise noted, classes
offered by Daughters of the New Moon have a minimum age requirement of
12 to acknowledge the

Class Opportunities -- throughout the year
- Each Fall &
Spring we try to offer courses in Basic
and/or Intermediate steps and techniques. Please contact
us
if you would like to be notified when upcoming
classes are scheduled.
- Private lessons (individual or group) and coaching services
are
available upon request for dancers of all levels. These are
opportunities to improve general technique, address specific concerns
or performance skills, and add depth to your choreographic or
improvisation abilities.
- Add a special flair to
a girl’s night or afternoon and schedule a mini group lesson
in your home. Perfect for teen parties and
sleepovers, a
bachelorette
party, or any time you want some extra excitement. Cost
depends on the
length
of the lesson (30
minutes up to an hour) and the number of people attending. A 10-minute solo
performance can also be
included.
- Fall Workshop
and Show. We routinely bring in nationally and world-famous
dancers to teach a two- or three-day weekend workshop and showcase them
in a show with the troupe. Workshops are typically designed
towards dancers who have been introduced to basic bellydance movements.
- Dancers who have
successfully completed
two levels of classes (or the equivalent) with a demonstrated level of
proficiency may be eligible to attend
regular Daughters
of the New Moon troupe rehearsals to practice technique and
choreography.
